When my father decided that he would like to move closer to us, we were delighted. Having lived in this city for 18 years we were familiar with various places that my Dad could move. We wanted to locate just the right place for Dad’s new home.

Quickly we realized that we needed more information and guidance in this decision. I had just read a newspaper article on a new business that helped seniors find housing so I called Judy Wallace and Kathleen Nimmo of Home To Home to enlist their help in our search. This was the wisest decision we made. Kathleen and Judy not only provided excellent information for our family in a timely manner but they also exhibited a caring and thoughtful attitude.

To begin the search they drove to Atlanta to visit my Dad to learn about him, his interests and what he was looking for in his new home. With that information and my input Judy and Kathleen researched the market and presented three housing options that met our criteria.

Then they scheduled appointments for us to talk with the director, tour the place and have lunch at each location. During the interview with the director Kathleen and Judy asked questions that were extremely helpful in making a final decision. Having them do the research and set up the appointments, etc. saved me an enormous amount of time and frustration. Throughout the entire process Judy and Kathleen remained attentive and open to our needs and suggestions; we revisited places and added a place. They were excellent listeners and communicators. My father and I never felt that we were being pressured into making a decision or that Kathleen and Judy weren’t really hearing what we were looking for in a new home. Their genuine concern was expressed by the numerous phone calls, visits and time they showered on us.

When my father made his decision, they rejoiced with us. But that is not the end of the story. Several weeks after my father had moved into his new apartment, Judy and Kathleen brought him a “Welcome” basket and stayed for a visit. Now that’s caring!

Home To Home helped make my father’s move much easier for everyone. A potentially stressful situation was averted thanks to the positive support and concern of Kathleen and Judy.

My father’s illness has been an eye opener for me because as our parents get older, we as children have to take on the responsibility of caring for them. Sometimes caring for them can be stressful, but that is why angels like Judy and Kathleen were put on earth to assist in helping our loved ones receive the best care.
